How does it work
Working both in Rwanda and in Scotland, we create partnerships through sponsorship.
We seek to match Ikirezi - and other Rwandan companies in need of financial and
other support - with backers in Scotland. We will also establish strong business
and personal links between the partners.
There are three routes through which companies and individual here can help:
Financial backing
Rwandan companies desperately need funding to develop their ventures and see their
own people benefit, so financial backing is a priority. As sponsor, you will be
informed on a regular basis how exactly this funding is being spent and the social
benefits which it is bringing.
Financial backing plus sponsorship-in-kind
In addition to the vital financial backing, many of the companies will also benefit
hugely from this kind of support plus complementary sponsorship-in-kind. Scottish-based
companies can provide additional levels of expertise (for example, in areas such
as marketing, IT, accounting, construction, business planning, design etc) for the
many business challenges which Rwandan companies face.
Sponsorship-in-kind
For smaller companies here, the pure sponsorship-in-kind route can provide much-needed
support for Rwandan companies.
Individual sponsorship
Finally, we enable individuals, groups or companies here to sponsor a named individual
worker through a regular monthly payment. Again, this provides a huge benefit to
a Rwandan worker and his or her family.
Through all of these routes, we will encourage genuine partnership, with strong
bonds being forged between Scotland and Rwanda. This can also lead to other initiatives
such as:
- visits
- placements
- employee exchanges.
